North Carolina Trip

North Carolina Final Adventure!

In this final episode of our North Carolina trip I share my experiences of taking an Adventure Riding Course and how I learned when Not to use the front brake. I didn’t grow up on dirt bikes or motorcycles. I taught myself how to ride a street bike when I was in my 40’s. Now, I wish I had learned how to ride off road. That is my motivation for taking this adventure riding class. Although, I ended up braking my left thumb, I am still determined to learn how to ride off road. As soon as I return home, I bought a used CRF 150 to practice my newly acquired skills. Check out my latest video in the link below, where I share this experience.

Day 2 Heading to North Carolina

We set out on our journey to North Carolina. Day 1 is traveling from Central NY to Maryland. Check out the first day of our trip!

Day 1 Heading to Maryland First!

Cornerspin Adventure Riding Course

I decided to take an adventure riding course to become more comfortable and confident with my off road riding skills. In May, my husband and I rode our bikes to North Carolina to meet pro racer Aaron Steveson, owner of Cornerspin ADV riding course. I found everyone to very welcoming and friendly. I may have been one of the most difficult student to teach. It is like the old saying, you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. I definitely learned so much about myself and my skills as a biker. I know now I still have an enormous amount to learn about riding off road. Sometimes you develop bad habits on those big old cruisers! I’m definitely guilty of that. That is one of the things that came to light from this experience. Aaron and Charlie were both amazing instructors (I definitely tested their patience). I messed up and went down, breaking my thumb, but there is no question that both Melvin and I would go back and take that adventure course again. Motorcycle Camping

We love our new tent! The extra room allows us to keep our gear separated from our sleeping quarters! It’s also a garage if we need to do any bike repairs! I am impressed at how well made this tent is and very sturdy! It goes up very quickly and has plenty of ventilation and storage! MAX BMW Demo Day

Meeting new people who also love motorcycles is one of my favorite part of this journey!

During our trip to West Virginia CMA Super State Rally we rode out to this amazing bridge that goes over the New River! The roadway of the New River Gorge Bridge is 876 feet (267 m) above the New River, located near Fayetteville, West Virginia, in the Appalachian Mountains of the eastern United States. I am working on putting the video together of this trip. I didn’t get to video leaving the Gorge Bridge because it was raining. We did get caught in the thunderstorm. There was an accident on the highway and we had to sit idling on the highway without our rain gear (we left it back in the hotel). By the time we could get off the highway we were soaked through and through. We pulled off at the first gas station and a very nice family was coming back from the beach so they had beach towels. I think they felt so bad for us that they started getting their towels out to help us dry up and warm up! What a blessing that was! We prayed together and finally the rain lightened up so we got back on the road to Flatwood.

West Virginia Part 1

In this video the Wrights are on a mission to West Virginia. In part 1 we go from NY to PA and meet up with some friends before we head out to West Virginia in part 2. Come along with us for the ride!
