Crystal Falls, Michigan to Bemidji, Minnesota
Today marked Day 4 of our 66-day Ride of a Lifetime Adventure!
The morning began with breaking down camp, packing our gear, and loading up the bikes. We finally rolled out around 10:00 a.m.—about an hour later than I had hoped. While our destination, Bemidji, Minnesota, was only 355 miles away, those miles add up quickly when you factor in fuel stops, meals, photography, and the unexpected encounters that make this journey so special.
Our first stop was in Ashland, Wisconsin, a beautiful town nestled along the shores of Lake Superior. I immediately fell in love with the relaxed lake-town atmosphere and stunning waterfront views. We stopped for lunch at a local diner, and little did we know God already had appointments waiting for us there.
While we were eating, Melvin struck up a conversation with a gentleman and shared a Bible with him while talking about the forgiveness found in Jesus Christ. The man smiled and told us that he had just recently had the word “Forgiven” tattooed on his body. He even showed it to us. Moments like that remind us that God is always at work behind the scenes. What some might call coincidence, we see as divine appointments. We knew God had orchestrated that encounter.
As we prepared to leave the diner, we felt prompted to stop and speak with a young couple sitting in a booth near the door. We encouraged them to trust God and allow Him to guide their lives. We gave them a Bible and one of our “What Would Jesus Ride?” tracts. As I told the young woman, “Jesus loves you,” tears began to roll down her face. It was a powerful reminder that the Holy Spirit often leads us to people who need encouragement exactly when they need it most.
After lunch, we made our way down to the shore of Lake Superior to capture some video and drone footage before getting back on the highway. From there, it was time to put in the miles and make our way toward camp before darkness settled in.
By evening, we arrived at the KOA in Bemidji, Minnesota. After setting up camp, dinner consisted of a simple meal of cheese and crackers, but the fellowship that followed made it memorable.
We met three riders from Quebec, Canada, all traveling on BMW GS Adventure motorcycles. Naturally, conversations quickly turned to motorcycles, travel stories, favorite destinations, and the adventures we’ve experienced along the way. We shared stories, laughs, and our mutual passion for adventure riding. Before parting ways, Melvin offered a biker blessing and gave each of them a Bible.
Once again, we were reminded that this journey is about so much more than the miles we ride. It’s about the people God places in our path, the stories we share, and the opportunities to spread His love, hope, and truth wherever we go.
These experiences have been truly inspiring, and we are grateful for every moment.
Tomorrow brings another exciting chapter in our adventure. We are looking forward to meeting up with Earl and members of the Peacemaker CMA Chapter in North Dakota. We’ve been told they’ll be welcoming us with a big barbecue prepared by chapter members. It sounds like another incredible day of fellowship, friendship, and God’s blessings awaits.
Until then, the adventure continues!
